Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Dee is a cloverhand - someone who can see faeries. When she finds herself irresistibly drawn to beautiful, mysterious Luke, Dee senses that he wants something more dangerous than a summer romance. But Dee doesn't realize that Luke is an assassin from the faerie world. And she is his next target.

My Thoughts: so here I am with another Maggie Stiefvater book. I have yet to rate one of her books less than 5 hoots. And I'm not doing it yet! Yet again, Stiefvater has blown me away and made me fall in love with a book, as I have with all of her books.

Lament is about an extremely musically talented young girl who can see Faeries named Deidre, or Dee. Music and Faeries are something that just go hand in hand. The music laced throughout this story made it that much more beautiful. It's placement and descriptiveness made it so I could pretty much hear the music in my head and feel the emotions it would invoke. It made for an amazing soundtrack, and really made the scenes that much more vivid and emotional.

After Dee sees her first fairy things escalate pretty darn quickly from there. Faeires are drawn to Dee, because of her musical abilites and powers. The fairy queen is not to happy about this because they are less drawn to her. So the queen sends an assassin out to take care of business and destroy her competition. But then the unexpected happens, and romance ensues.

I immediaetly liked Luke, the assassin. His story is one that will leave you grieving. His mannerisms, personality, and actions are incredibly endearing. But how in the world would their relationship ever work? He's from the fairy world, he is supposed to kill her. If he doesn't either someone else will or he will be killed for disobeying. Even though their relationship seems doomed from the start that doesn't stop them from enjoying what they have while it lasts.

The romance was intense. And every kiss or brush of skin had my heart pumping. I was in love with their love. The fantasy aspects were creepy and beautiful all at the same time, just like they should be. And as is usual for me when I read Stiefvater books, the characters became my best friends. I read this book pretty fast, I picked it up one afternoon and by the time the kids were in bed the next day I was done. I put it down and I sat there and cried, I mean like, shoulder shaking sobs. I haven't read too many fairy books, but without a doubt this is the best one I've ever read, so if you're into that kind of thing at all, then you need to read this book. Good thing I had the sequel to it sitting on my shelf as well or I would have been pulling my hair out trying to get my hands on it. Like I imagine I will be doing when I finish ballad since the 3rd book doesn't come out till sometime in 2013, oh dear.

Thanks again maggie for the incredibly journey, you have climbed so very high on my list of favorite authors. I just want to share all your books with everyone haha. Seriously, get out there and read some of her books if you haven't. Any of them, you can't go wrong.
